Jay-Z and Beyoncé headline L A.s most expensive home sales of 2017 Los Angeles Times

On the right side of the house, there appears to be an outdoor living space for the family to take advantage of. It’s not immediately clear what the red thing with the attached twisting bars is on the left of the photo. The roughly 1-acre site on Stradella Road is where Bay owned a modern mansion designed by Jack Warner, whose architectural firm worked on the Bel-Air Country Club. The “Transformers” producer sold the house in 2014 for $11.45 million, and it has since been renovated and expanded to 15,000 square feet, or about double its original 7,919-square-foot footprint. The property, developed by Dean McKillen, was never publicly offered for sale but carried an asking price of $135 million, according to real estate sources.

Despite going on to such mega success, Jay definitely has not forgotten where he came from. In fact, during the COVID-19 epidemic, his charitable organization — the Shawn Carter Foundation — made a huge donation to residents of his former home, which was hard hit by the virus. As reported by Complex, thanks to a generous donation from SCF, every single household at Marcy Houses received a supermarket gift card to assist in buying groceries during these hard times.

The couple paid $88 million for their Bel Air mansion, a source confirms to PEOPLE. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly 40% of the July median sales price — $610,000 — for single-family homes in Los Angeles County, according to CoreLogic. It’s also about $50,000 more than the U.S. median home value of $200,400, according to Zillow. Later, they rented this equally baller estate at 30 Wainscott Highway in Wainscott.

In 2004, before pairing off with Beyoncé, Jay-Z purchased a seventh-floor penthouse at 195 Hudson St. for $6.85 million. The apartment spanned 8,000 square feet, with an additional 3,000 square feet of terrace space. This was where the couple held their private, 40-guest wedding in 2008. You wouldn’t expect the couple to have anything but the latest and greatest appliances in their kitchen. While the house was still under construction, the builder opted to install Miele appliances, including this gas cooktop.

They became bonafide Hamptons owners last fall fall, when they bought a palace know as the Pond House for nearly $26 million. The property has plenty of space for Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir to run around without prying eyes, as it’s next to a 17-acre nature preserve. Designed by famed architect Stanford White, contractor Jeffrey Colle decided to up the luxe factor by rotating the house 90 degrees, so its living room faces Georgica Pond. Currently, there is not a finished photo, but between the two of them, you can get a good idea of what to expect. The spa appears to include two steam rooms featuring marble or travertine walls. Between the two will be a small plunge pool, giving the cool a place to cool off and reinvigorate after sweating it out.

Also within the approximately 2-acre compound is a full basketball court and separate staff quarters. There is garage space for 15 vehicles as well as a motor court and an area for staff parking. Where you are music industry royalty, you kind of have to own in New Orleans. Jay and Bey bought this historic church in the Garden District section of New Orleans in 2015. It’s a departure from their modern digs in Manhattan, but with a lovely mix of bold colors, patterns and texture. According to Zillow, a company with ties to Beyoncé purchased the home, which was listed for $2.6 million.

It was last on the market for $65 million when Jamie McCourt decided to sell the home. It was purchased by a mysterious “British Billionaire” for $45 million in 2014, which is who Beyoncé and Jay Z rented from. After the birth of their twins in June 2017, Beyoncé and Jay Z rented this massive Malibu estate for a reported $400,000/month. The home was designed by home whisperer and spec-home genius, Paul McClean.

The kitchen, updated in 2010, has an island and a pass-through with a wine chiller. Completed this year, the monolithic showplace comprises six structures with about 30,000 square feet of interior space. Expansive patios and terraces create an additional 10,000 square feet of living space outdoors.

A Glimpse at the Bathroom

It has its own history in Hollywood prior to it’s new found fame thanks to Beyonce. Known as La Villa Contenta, this estate was portrayed as the domicile of the Vampire Queen on HBO’s hit drama True Blood. But again, if you’re a big celebrity, you can’t go out very often and your best option is having something like this in your own home. Last off-season, Parsons, 28, agreed to a four-year maximum contract with Memphis worth a reported $94 million.

With this purchase, the Carter’s have spent a whopping $114 million in 2017 on real estate deals from coast to coast. Beyonce, Jay Z and baby Blue Ivy just moved into their new home in Bridgehampton, NY. The whole family is renting the very private home to spend the summer and to enjoy some quiet time by the beach. Beyonce and JAY-Z have finally found a home in Los Angeles after house hunting for two years.

Glass-walled common areas open on two sides to access panoramic views. Described as a “state-of-the-art modern barn,” the six-bedroom, seven-bedroom house has paneled walls, high-end finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows. More than an acre of grounds center on a 210-foot, zero-edge swimming pool, which occupies the space where the studio once stood. The Mediterranean-inspired home and its surrounding structures total a whopping 16,107 square feet of living space. It boasts 10-bedrooms and 14-bathrooms (what do you even do with 10 bedrooms?!).

Altogether, there are six structures on the property with around a combined 30,000 sq. The estate is a smart home that includes all of the latest technological features to ensure safety and convenience. (All it takes is the touch of a button to open the glass walls. And, of course, everything sits behind massive iron gates. The modern showplace sits behind walls and gates and comprises six structures with about 30,000 square feet of living space. Features of the monolithic-vibe compound include spa and wellness facilities, a media room and four outdoor swimming pools.

The Villa-style abode has 5-bedrooms and 6-bathrooms, giving plenty of space for Momma Knowles and Solange to visit. After getting hitched in 2008, the couple snapped up a sprawling 7-bedroom, 8-bathroom Miami Beach compound at 40 Indian Creek Rd. The compound is part of Indian Creek Village, an exclusive, insanely expensive island in Miami’s Biscayne Bay. There are just 35 homes on the island, all them belonging to big-time jet setters.

They have taken out 2 permits – one to install a backup generator, and the other to add a living space below the pool to the tune of $750,000. Features include dark wood floors, contemporary ironwork and five fireplaces. The family room is equipped with a wine cellar, wet bar and bi-folding doors that lead to patio space and a fire pit. A center-island kitchen, living and dining rooms and a den are among the other common areas. But the Carters have far too much cash to waste their time renting.

The 11,880-square-foot house, built in 1970, boasts such gilded details as Baccarat chandeliers, gold-leaf ceilings and ornate tile work. A ballroom, a rotunda dining room, a media room, seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms are among the living spaces. Amenities include spa and wellness facilities, a media room and four outdoor swimming pools.

The rapper/hip-hop magnate and his superstar wife have bought a modern mansion in Bel-Air, according to sources not authorized to comment publicly on the deal. The purchase price was $88 million, public records show, among the most expensive real estate deals historically in L.A. Last August, the couple dropped a hefty $88 million on a new mansion in Los Angeles’ famed Bel-Air neighborhood. The property is more like a mini-fiefdom than a house, encompassing six buildings, multiple pools, a basketball court, and separate quarters for the staff.

Lasers are just photons that are little packets of light that have wide ranging biologic effects. Surgical lasers are used to treat both hard and soft tissue, The tissue is happy to receive the energy and the remaining healthy tissue heals much faster with less pain. Lasers also kill bacteria and can be used to treat bacterial events such as dental caries and infection. The laser also can be used to drill a tooth is certain situations without the use of local anesthesia.

Dental Crowns

The treatment of pockets, which are deeper areas under the gum, often involving loss of the supporting bone, are now commonly treated with lasers. Periodontal surgery can be necessary in situations such as Clinical Crown Lengthening, which is necessary when a tooth has decayed or broken below the gum. A surgery is necessary to lower the gum and bone to expose enough tooth structure for a final restoration. Other types of periodontal surgery include treatment of inadequate amounts of gum, which are frequently solved with grafting.

Smile Design & Wellness Center is proud to be one of the first practices in Brevard County to have digital X-rays. Most importantly they are significantly less in radiation, estimates are as high as 90% but probably more like 75% less than conventional. Health starts in the mouth with the importance of starting the process of chewing and digesting the food we eat to nourish our bodies. The importance of the Microbiome, particularly of the digestive system is paramount to health. The mouth is the beginning of this system and it’s Microbiome is related.

Tooth decay is a condition that occurs when the enamel of a tooth is damaged due to acids produced by bacteria in your mouth. Neglecting to treat tooth decay can lead to various complications, such as pain, infection, and even the loss of the affected tooth. With improvements in materials, particularly with premium, natural looking denture teeth, we are able to create an esthetic restoration that can look completely natural. In many cases of severe break down and malformed, rotated, discolored teeth, the most aesthetic solution can be a denture.

It involves growth and development and the movement of teeth and bones into a healthier, more functional and more aesthetic position. He treated children and adolescents in his Rhode Island practice. MISSION CITY CENTER

Tray whitening can be worn while sleeping, achieving optimal results in as little as 7 to 10 applications. For patients who do not want to sleep wearing the trays, excellent results can be obtained by using them in one hour sessions. Even dark tetracycline stained teeth will see a significant improvement with prescription strength whitening. We use Discus Zoom whitening products, considered the finest available today with minimal sensitivity and quick results. It measures the reflection (fluorescence) coming back at it, and creates a digital readout from 0 to 99. Decay is indicated by higher numbers and exposed decay will register a 99.

This can be the tipping point between a tooth healing or needing a root canal. There is a secondary healing effect as the laser is being used; the coherent photons of light coming out of the end of the laser are able to penetrate into the pulp of the tooth. The cells in the pulp take up the light and enjoy a biologic effect of healing, reduced inflammation and stimulation of stem cells for repair.

The patient is awake, and one of the side effects is that the medication is amnesic and patients remember very little of the procedure. Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that involves the supporting structures of the teeth. This includes both the bone that the root of the tooth sits in, as well as the gum that surrounds the tooth and protects the underlying bone. We are very skilled in holistic and biological dentistry and provide safe mercury removal and the nonmetallic restorative options. We are part of the ¼ of 1% of Dentists in the United States trained in safe mercury removal.

Partial dentures are fabricated when there are multiple missing teeth. For reasons of health, lack of remaining bone or financial situations, a partial denture may be the best option for the patient. We make different styles of partial dentures, from the traditional where the clasps are visible in the mouth to precision partial dentures that attach to crowns and look natural.

Most patients remark that they have never had as thorough an exam as we give at The Smile Design & Wellness Center. Resin veneers sometimes called Direct Bonding, or just Bonding, is another minimally invasive technique used at Smile Design. Today’s resins beautifully mimic natural tooth structure and often times a tooth that is misshapen, twisted, chipped or discolored can be made to look absolutely beautiful. It, often times, can be done in conjunction with a restorative filling or replacement of old fillings on the front teeth where it’s cosmetically visible. Whitening is one of the safest and most effective ways to improve one’s smile. Zoom is an in-office, one visit whitening system where the patient has their teeth whitened in 3-20 min. sessions.

Depending upon the materials used, the quality of the teeth chosen and the skill of both the dentist and the laboratory technician, the result can have many different appearances. Injection molding of the pink denture base material is much more accurate than the traditional way that most Dentures are made. CEREC is a one visit 3D CAD/CAM technology to fabricate both crowns and bridges.

The WaterlaseMD is also used to sterilize the canals in root canals and is effective in debridement of the sockets of extracted teeth, again killing bacteria and stimulating healing. The photons of light penetrate deep into the tissue and bone and stimulate the cells in a biological way. It encourages stem cells to differentiate into new tissue; it reduces inflammation, pain, and improves blood flow. We regularly use the low-level laser at the end of surgical treatments and very often the patients return for 2 or 3 more treatments over the next week. Patients are always pleasantly surprised that when lasers are used, there is such minimal postoperative discomfort after surgical procedures and how quickly they heal. Stem Cells have become accepted in medicine as a powerful healing modality.

Ron’s sister, Kim Goldman, has said it was never about the money, but about holding Simpson accountable. After the civil judgment was handed down by the court in 1997, Simpson said he didn’t have the money to pay them. In the late 1990s, estimates about his net worth varied from $850,000 to $15.7 million. He is listed as the chief executive of a handful of California-based businesses, most of which were created in the 1970s or ’80s. OJ Simpson Enterprises reported $873,000 in sales in March, though it’s not clear where that money originated. LaVergne walked back that statement Monday, saying he was responding to “highly inflammatory” remarks made by the Goldman family’s attorney after Simpson’s death.

By noon, there were a few cars in the sunny lot, which had always been full in pre-pandemic days. No carp are native to North America, but four species brought over in the 1970s create particular anxiety in the Midwest because they’re outcompeting other fish species and harming mussels.

And that was before March 2020, when state and national shutdowns closed restaurants and the coronavirus began devastating Indigenous communities in Arizona and nationwide. Berkeley may be the Bay Area’s hippie seat but the city itself is Ohlone territory. The original inhabitants of the Bay Area were once numerous and lived entirely off and in concert with the land. There are about 5,000 existing tribe members—including Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino, partners and founders of Cafe Ohlone, who want to revive those ancient ways.

Today, there are more than 570 federally recognized Native American tribes across the United States, each with their own distinct food traditions and flavor profiles. For these contemporary chefs, serving Native dishes is all about showing that the cuisine isn’t “survival food” but rather rich, diverse, and contemporary. And it’s also about supporting local communities that are often overlooked by the American mainstream. For chef Sean Sherman, founder of the Sioux Chef, uplifting local Native communities is one of his top priorities in his work.

Because of its origin, fry bread is somewhat controversial. It was invented by Native American tribes but at the cost of their own historical cuisine. The recipe was handed down to Cecilia Miller, Richards's mother, from her mother. "It's dangerous to come back here," Richard Perry says as he weaves his way through the hot kitchen of The Fry Bread House. Nationally, the unemployment rate for Native Americans is nearly double that for other Americans. Some Fry Bread House employees have spouses long or newly out of work, while others have unemployed or dependent children, grandchildren, and extended families to feed.

At Wahpepah’s Kitchen, patrons can expect standout dishes like Kickapoo chili with bison and blue cornbread (perfect for the foggy, cool Bay Area weather) and bison and blue corn meatballs, served with a turnip slaw. Expect to see lots of proteins like bison, salmon, and venison—all native to the region and selected by Wahpepah to honor the Ohlone people, the original inhabitants of the Bay Area, and their diet. At Owamni, guests can expect modern Indigenous fare like elk choginyapi (an open-faced sandwich) served with sweet potatoes and pepitas and bison tacos wrapped with tortillas made from heirloom corn. And most recently Owmani won Best New Restaurant at the 2022 James Beard Awards. And yet the popularity of these comfort foods has kept the beloved second-generation open for decades, despite difficult odds. Like other Indigenous restaurants, The Fry Bread House has faced perpetual obstacles on top of long hours and slim margins, including poverty, racism, disproportionate health crises, and other injustices that afflict Indigenous communities.

For the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, it has been nearly three decades of court fights, painstaking forensic accounting, detective work and, ultimately, frustration. “Our goal is to create an understanding of what Native food is,” says Jacobs, who opened the eatery in 2008 with his former Denver University classmate Matt Chandra. And she left a legacy of fry bread that her kids will pass on, just as she did. It was passed around and passed down, all the way to Cecilia Miller.

Descriptive Research: Design, Methods, Examples, and FAQs

research design for descriptive research

Suppose an apparel brand wants to understand the fashion purchasing trends among New York’s buyers, then it must conduct a demographic survey of the specific region, gather population data, and then conduct descriptive research on this demographic segment. If you’re not sure which methods will work best for your research design, try reading some papers in your field to see what data collection methods they used. Observations allow you to gather data on behaviours and phenomena without having to rely on the honesty and accuracy of respondents. This method is often used by psychological, social, and market researchers to understand how people act in real-life situations.

Quantitative Research – Methods, Types and...

It provides a comprehensive understanding of the “what” of the group or thing you’re investigating. Organizations use descriptive research designs to determine how various demographic groups react to a certain product or service. Quantitative studies are time- and resource-intensive, so knowing the hypotheses viable for testing is crucial. The basic overview of descriptive research provides helpful hints as to which variables are worth quantitatively examining.

She must conduct a demographic survey of the region, gather population data, and then conduct descriptive research on this demographic segment. The study will then uncover details on “what are the water management practices and trends in village X.” Note, however, that it will not cover any investigative information about “why” the patterns exist. In survey research, respondents answer through surveys or questionnaires or polls.

How does descriptive research compare to qualitative research?

Surveys are a type of descriptive research that involves collecting data through self-administered or interviewer-administered questionnaires. Additionally, they can be administered in-person, by mail, or online, and can collect both qualitative and quantitative data. In this blog, we will explore the definition, characteristics, and common flaws in descriptive research design, and provide tips on how to avoid these pitfalls to produce high-quality results.

Case selection in qualitative research

Total of 26 service providers, program managers, and focal persons were participated through four focus group discussion and five key informant interviews. Our findings also suggest that service providers require additional training, particularly in programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis. Qualitative description (QD) is a term that is widely used to describequalitative studies of health care and nursing-related phenomena.

This can be highly beneficial when you’re looking to understand the behaviors or preferences of a wider population. For example you might want to understand what percentage of CEOs have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Or you might want to understand what percentage of low income families receive government support – or what kind of support they receive.

Therefore, this method is often used to describe a specific subject’s different characteristics rather than generalizable facts. Descriptive research can prove to be a useful tool when trying to test the validity of an existing condition as it involves conducting an in-depth analysis of every variable before drawing conclusions. Naturalistic observation can be conducted by observing boys’ shoes in schools, malls, playgrounds, and other public spaces. In this article, we’ll look at what cross-sectional studies are, how it applies to your research and how to use Formplus to collect... In this article we’ll look at the different types and characteristics of extrapolation, plus how it contrasts to interpolation. Descriptive research explores research problems in-depth, beyond the surface level thereby giving a detailed description of the research subject.

Types of quantitative research designs

It involves open-ended interviews, observations, or small-scale surveys to gather qualitative data. The main purpose of descriptive research design is to describe and measure the characteristics of a population or phenomenon in a systematic and objective manner. It involves collecting data that describe the current status or condition of the population or phenomenon of interest, without manipulating or altering any variables.

Descriptive research methods

Descriptive statistics can include measures of central tendency (e.g., mean, median, mode) and measures of variability (e.g., range, standard deviation). I understood from my MDR-TB patient’s words that he kept to himself and avoided social interaction. He made this decision as a result of stigmatization by locals, including health extension workers. In addition, medical professionals exclude MDR-TB patients due to fear of exposures. Globally, an estimated 20% of previously treated cases and 3.3% of new cases are thought to have MDR-TB; these levels have essentially not changed in recent years. Globally, 160,684 cases of multidrug-resistant TB and rifampicin-resistant TB (MDR/RR-TB) were notified in 2017, and 139,114 cases were enrolled into treatment in 2017 [12].

Participants’ perceptions of specific care, interventions, or programswere described in detail in 11 articles. All researchers presented their findings withextensive descriptions including themes or categories. In 25 of 55 articles, figures ortables were also presented to illustrate or summarize the findings.

Descriptive studies are useful for estimating the burden of disease (e.g., prevalence or incidence) in a population. For instance, information on prevalence of cataract in a city may help the government decide on the appropriate number of ophthalmologic facilities. Data from descriptive studies done in different populations or done at different times in the same population may help identify geographic variation and temporal change in the frequency of disease. This may help generate hypotheses regarding the cause of the disease, which can then be verified using another, more complex design.

Inferential research, however, involves making inferences or generalizations about a larger population based on a smaller sample. Descriptive research typically involves analyzing data to generate descriptive statistics, such as means, frequencies, or percentages, to describe the characteristics or behaviors observed. Descriptive research is primarily concerned with providing an objective representation of the subject of study without explaining underlying causes or mechanisms.

A systematic review in Ethiopia reported 2% prevalence of MDR-TB [3] that is higher than what is observed in Sub-Saharan Africa, 1.5% [13]. The prevalence of MDR-TB, according to the national drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) sentinel report, was 2.3% among newly diagnosed cases of TB and 17.8% among cases of TB who had already received treatment,. This suggests a rising trend in the prevalence of TB drug resistance compared to the results of the initial drug-resistant TB survey carried out in Ethiopia from 2003 to 2005 [14]. A blueprint of the procedure that enables the researcher to maintain control over all factors that may affect the result of an experiment. Experimental research is often used where there is time priority in a causal relationship (cause precedes effect), there is consistency in a causal relationship (a cause will always lead to the same effect), and the magnitude of the correlation is great.

However, there is no way to assess the findings because you don’t manipulate any variables statistically. For instance, descriptive research can help determine how many CEOs hold a bachelor’s degree and what proportion of low-income households receive government help. It involves using a subset of a larger group as a sample to characterize the features of that larger group. Once you’ve clearly stated your criteria and objectives, you must also specify the nature of the data that must be gathered. When employing this research method, the researcher can choose to be a complete observer, an observer as a participant, a participant as an observer, or a full participant.

Explanatory research seeks to explain the relationships between variables and uncover the underlying causes or mechanisms. It is primarily concerned with providing an accurate and objective representation of the subject of research. While analytical research goes beyond the description of the phenomena and seeks to analyze and interpret data to discover if there are patterns, relationships, or any underlying factors. Correlational research is a type of descriptive research, which is used to measure the relationship between 2 variables, with the researcher having no control over them. It aims to find whether there is; positive correlation (both variables change in the same direction), negative correlation (the variables change in the opposite direction), or zero correlation (there is no relationship between the variables). Qualitative observation, on the other hand, involves the monitoring of characteristics and not the measurement of numbers.

Researchers must carefully consider descriptive research methods, types, and examples to harness their full potential in contributing to scientific knowledge. Descriptive research is a research method describing the characteristics of the population or phenomenon studied. This descriptive methodology focuses more on the “what” of the research subject than the “why” of the research subject. Data collection methods are ways of directly measuring variables and gathering information. They allow you to gain first-hand knowledge and original insights into your research problem.

Embrace transitional design by mixing eras

Brit Epperson of Studio Plow remade this home, which had recently been renovated with more traditional materials, to suit her clients' contemporary aesthetic by filling it with undeniably modern furnishings. Because modern living rooms aren't all light and airy, they can be dark and dramatic too. Create a very chic, cocooning space by painting all four walls with very dark charcoal, or adopt a black living room scheme if you are after something softer. Bold colors work just as well in a contemporary living space, and you can add them with accessories (cheaply), furniture (a bit more of an outlay), or interior paint color trends (small outlay, bigger effort).

Living Room Accessories

"I was inspired to create a casual yet sophisticated living space for a family of seven," designer Ruqiya Imtiaz of Studio RIU says. Having worked in the interiors industry for a number of years, spanning many publications, she now hones her digital prowess on the 'best interiors website' in the world. Multi-skilled, Jennifer has worked in PR and marketing, and the occasional dabble in the social media, commercial and e-commerce space. Have fun with them, they are easy to switch out and can instantly lift the room so be sure to use your soft furnishings, pillows, throws, etc. to add color, pattern and interest to the space. Whether you are considering a quick living room update or are looking for living room ideas for creating a focal point, decorating with artwork is an excellent option. Piling on texture can be smart when creating neutral living room ideas.

Add a Bold Rug

This tiny living room feels incredibly luxe thanks to a combination of woodworking, brass finishings, and elegant décor. If you love pink but still want your space to feel sophisticated, opt for a pale blush. These colors shouldn't work together, but the bold use of pink and red in small doses creates a fun vibe to this otherwise minimalistic space. Rugs up the cozy factor of your space, but if you want a more sleek, sophisticated feel, skip the rug altogether.

A wall of windows allows plenty of natural light into this space—and offers views of the homeowners' colorful flowering shrubs. The clean lines of the upholstered furniture, hidden media storage, and dark metallic accents keep the focus on the great outdoors. For the great room in this 1925 French Norman home, Boschetti worked with a monochrome color palette for the walls and trim, matching furniture, a string light chandelier, and vinyl mirrored paper on the ceiling.

Set a moody tone in your living room by painting walls and built-ins black. Although the dark color is bold, it creates a timeless look and cozy ambience when paired with lighter accents. Pale wood floors, a cowhide rug, and a plush tufted sofa soften and brighten the space. Styling built-ins can help you create visual breaks in the dark paint color through stacked books, layered picture frames, or decorative accents. If neutral schemes make your creative side go to sleep, look to colorful living room ideas to awaken and energize the space.

Intentional Accent Color

You don't need to have a one-track mind when looking for living room ideas, transitional living rooms that blend old and new are perfect for creating timeless spaces. Want to dress up bare walls but traditional artwork feels overplayed? Consider dousing your space in decorative mirrors—just as Jacques Grange did in this Portuguese pad. Not only does this woven arrangement add some character to this spacious room, but the number of reflective spaces also helps bounce the light around just right. Interior designer Cliff Fong decorated this 1927 Mediterranean-style mansion in Los Angeles with a sartorial eye.

Do as Anne Sage did in this home and add a rug to your living space to define that area. Take a cue from Atlanta design duo Forbes Masters the next time you're thinking of mixing patterns. The team blended small motifs like herringbone with a more organic watercolor print of the rug with a larger mudcloth pattern on the pillow.

Since the bold color is next to plenty of natural light, it keeps it from overpowering the space. Make a small living room feel like a jewel box by adding wallpaper. If you want to avoid anything too bold, choose a neutral color in a fun pattern. Sarah Fultz of Sarah Fultz Interiors isn't afraid of a bold color choice. She covered the brick fireplace, walls, and ceiling of this living room in a deep hunter green shade, keeping the floors and furniture light.

All-white rooms are a contemporary living room idea that needs a dose of personality. Bright red and blue patterned throw pillows pack a punch of contrast while keeping the space calm and relaxing. In addition, using dark wood furniture prevents the room from looking washed out. Jewel tones, like jade green, sapphire blue, and ruby red, can be used for a living room idea that fashionably fuses in a modern and accessible way. Draw your palette from a lively patterned fabric or oversized artwork featuring at least three bright colors. Introduce the attention-getting hues with solid-color lamps, vases, trims, and furnishings so they contribute a sense of vibrancy without overwhelming your design.

Ease every renter's commitment phobias with the best peel-and-stick wallpapers and add some neon lighting for a modern party house vibe. The gilded mirror above the fireplace, similar in style to the Aireana Traditional Wall Mirror, from Wayfair; and the chandelier, make this lounge space feel elegant and sophisticated. Yes, you can go far with just a touch of gold or max out with a gold drinks trolley in the corner for a glam 1920s touch. Shown here, combination dressers frame either side of the fireplace, making an undeniably impactful feature, showcasing styled shelfies and decorative logs. Open shelving gives smaller decorative objects a platform to dazzle, whilst adding mixed details, layered depth, and interest to the overall aesthetic. These living room decor ideas are sure to inspire, and even if you don't replicate the room like-for-like, there's something you can pick out and play about with as part of your next project.

A mix of textures, shapes, and colors, as seen in this design by Karen Emile of Milk & Honey Life, is a smart way to go. Features like wainscoting should be highlighted, like designer Gail Davis of Gail Davis Designs did here. The warm blue color mixed with traditional wallpaper creates a nice juxtaposition of old meets new. "This cozy spot is nestled among trees in the Pacific Northwest," Cathie Hong of Cathie Hong Interiors explains. "We really embraced the existing warm gray walls and wood trim and layered in soft blush tones, creams, and some black for contrast."

"Symmetrical layout, clean lines, and tonal colors modernized the space dramatically," she says. Modern living rooms are comfortable and inviting spaces built for relaxed family time and casual entertaining. Today's living rooms include elements like ultra-comfortable seating, built-in TV walls, and a focus on natural light. For an intriguing space that skips color altogether, use a mix of textures in your living room.

Pop a cushion-covered bench into the nook of your window to create extra seating and storage too. Create a layered lighting scheme, to make your space feel extra inviting with Lightology's range of wall scones, adjustable reading lights, and display lights. Modern living room ideas have become hives of activity for anything from relaxing, to socializing, Zoom workouts, mindful meditations, and home working. So that you can separate the ‘task at hand,’ try space zoning by creating dedicated areas for each activity. White interiors are timeless, but there are so many shades to consider. Here, designer Jessica Nelson leans toward warm and creamy tones for a more inviting space.

It combines olive limewash walls, a terra-cotta velvet sofa, and eye-catching teal accents. Choose calming colors, soft lights, pleasant textiles, and soothing scents when planning how your living room will be experienced, especially if there's someone in your life with sensory sensitivity. 'Metal in contemporary-style living rooms isn’t to be kept for tables and larger pieces of furniture alone,' adds Quinn. Envelop your lounge with cocooning silhouettes and wavy shapes that flow and soothe the soul. Think sculptural artwork, scalloped edges on accessories, round coffee tables, and sweeping sofas that ‘cuddle’ and promote sharing and socializing. Use a print to bring color into a neutral space, or pick something that has a cohesive feel and works with the scheme you have going on.

These grand, sophisticated, and even cozy living room ideas are sure to inspire your next living room design project. As you pour over fabric and wall patterns, color palettes, furniture, and more, we hope these pictures from our extensive house tour archives provide all the design inspiration you need. If you're working with a small living space, focus on bringing design elements up rather than trying to fit everything within the floor space. Here, the vaulted wood ceiling allows for an elaborate light fixture, while the floor-to-ceiling gray stone fireplace surround creates a backdrop for colorful art. Contemporary design meets traditional decor in this bright and open living room.

According to a preliminary investigation released Friday by the Committee to Protect Journalists, nearly 100 journalists have been killed covering the war in Gaza. Israel has defended its actions, saying it has been targeting militants. Ralliers cried "Free, free Palestine." They cheered when at one point someone inside the Washington Hilton - where the dinner has been held for decades - unfurled a Palestinian flag from a top-floor hotel window. Chants accused U.S. journalists of undercovering the war and misrepresenting it. "Western media we see you, and all the horrors that you hide," crowds chanted at one point.

FAQs about Zemi Beach House, LXR Hotels & Resorts

Zemi Beach House Resort and Spa is a four-and-a-half-pearl resort on Anguilla’s gorgeous Shoal Bay. The 65 bright rooms and villas feature king or queen beds, flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes (or kitchens), gorgeous natural details, and private balconies (some with ocean views and plunge pools). Zemi’s two sleek infinity pools include an adult-only option with a 60-foot lap lane and an oceanfront family pool. The sandy beach is lined with loungers and free water sports, and sea turtles use it as a breeding ground at certain times of year. Other amenities include a gym, two restaurants, a beautiful spa, and free breakfast buffets.

Irons and ironing boards can be borrowed from the front desk. Zemi Beach’s bright, modernrooms are a mix of privately owned guest rooms and villas. The latter are more like sprawling multi-room apartments, with huge balconies and perks like infinity plunge pools. In any case, across all categories, the look is beachy, though some are more attractive than others. Expect varying details like gray tile floors, wicker or hardwood accents, and framed prints of flowers, beach scenes, or ocean sunsets. As Sean McVay prepares to make a first-round pick in the NFL draft for the first time as a head coach, the Los Angeles Rams are setting up shop in a luxurious draft house for this weekend's event.

Then, I put my belongings in the locker room and enjoyed the rock-wall waterfall at the Vitality Pool. A visit to the Zemi Beach House isn’t complete without a trip to the Thai House Spa, which feels like you’ve simultaneously teleported to Southeast Asia and taken a step back in time. In fact, the building itself is more than 300 years old and was carefully deconstructed, transported to Anguilla, and then reconstructed. Los Angeles Oceanfront Vacation Rentals & Beachfront Homes

Read on to learn all about how to get to Anguilla and what it’s like to stay at the Zemi Beach House, a boutique, oceanfront resort with just 76 rooms and suites. Sadly, these far-flung destinations aren’t in the cards for me anytime soon, so a 4-hour flight (and some change) seemed much more achievable. Prices for cribs and extra beds aren't included in the total price.

Thriving reefs with some of the island's best snorkeling and diving are a short swim offshore. The hotel offers free snorkeling equipment, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks. Back on land, two pools include a three-level adult-only infinity pool with a 60-foot lap area. Unfortunately, it has obstructed views and overlooks hotel buildings. Travelers wanting ocean views along with their swim should head to the family pool instead. Both pools offer free sunscreen, water stations, and fresh fruit skewers.

I forgot to bring sandals, but thankfully there were complimentary flip-flops in the closet, as well as a Zemi-branded beach tote bag, robe, and laundry bag. The TV, while small for American standards, was built into the bed. I thought it was a brilliant use of the space, as you can tuck the TV away when you’re not watching anything. You’ll first walk through a narrow hallway that houses a minibar stocked with drinks and snacks for purchase, a Nespresso with Illy coffee capsules, a kettle, and a freshly-stocked ice bucket.

There are Peloton bikes in all U.S-branded Hilton hotels, and I’d expect a luxurious resort like the Zemi Beach House to offer the same — or perhaps more modern TechnoGym cardio machines. However, the equipment would suffice for those who want to get a quick sweat in. At the lifeguard stand, you could find snorkeling gear and various non-motorized water sports equipment (like kayaks and stand-up paddle boards), but the water was too rough for anyone to enjoy these free amenities. You’d also find more fruit-infused water and sunscreen, just as there was at the pool stand.

Standard spa services like massages, facials, and body treatments are available. The resort’s gym is stocked with Precor treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent and stationary bicycles, weight machines, dumbbells, kettle bells, medicine balls. It's open around the clock and trainers can be arranged for a fee. The property also has an astroturf tennis court, plus free rackets and balls. Just steps from their private residences, owners enjoy full access to all of the amenities of Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa.

Some of the island’s best snorkeling reefs are just offshore, and sea turtles take over the mile-plus long sandy beach during egg-laying and hatching season. A handful of restaurants serving Caribbean food -- from simple beach shacks to fine dining -- line the beach and are anywhere from a three- to 10-minute stroll from the property. The nearest ATM is an eight-minute drive from the property and a pharmacy and supermarket are both 15-minute drives from the resort. The Valley, Anguilla’s commercial capital, is around 15 minutes away by car, while it's a 25-minute drive to the Greg Norman-designed golf course across the island. Blowing Point, where you'll find the jetty for ferries to St. Maarten, is 20 minutes away by car. Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport is a 15-minute drive from the hotel.

It’s also where the tasty free breakfast buffet is served -- a huge perk on otherwise pricey Anguilla. Rhum Room is a rum-and-cigar bar that has a number of rare rums that can be sampled. The Bar and Lounge is the resort's open-air bar, serving cocktails and snacks. Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa is nestled on six oceanfront acres on Anguilla’s famous Shoal Bay East adjacent to the Fountain Cavern National Park. A touchstone for living, blending contemporary residential style with experiences anchored in the rich island traditions.

Afterward, I was permitted to use the Thai House Spa’s outdoor facilities, such as the yoga patio. I ordered a green juice ($10) from the juice bar and relaxed in a chair for a couple of hours. Whether you want a break from the sun or want to swim laps, this pool provides significantly more shade than down at the main resort area. Finding somewhere to sit was never an issue, even at the busiest hours, thanks to ample chairs, cabanas, and beach beds — all of which were free for guests. We pulled into the gated entrance of the resort to the lobby where a bellhop swiftly took our bags while our check-in agent provided us with cool towels and a signature rum punch welcome drink.

"Shame on you!" protesters draped in the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh cloth shouted, running after men in tuxedos and suits and women in long dresses who were holding clutch purses as guests hurried inside for the dinner. With hundreds of protesters rallying against the war in Gaza outside the event and concerns over the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the perils for journalists covering the conflict, the war hung over this year's event. The reception desk is separate from the rest of the resort, so once we were checked in, an agent gave us a tour of the resort on a golf cart. The Zemi Beach House, while a small property, is quite hilly. Although the official check-in time was at 3 p.m., I was able to check in early and enjoy the resort amenities until our room was ready — which ended up being around 1 p.m.

Gambino said the Glassell Park area where the home is located is popular among artists, musicians and actors. Many people who fit the bill have come to see the house, but it has also attracted a wider range of potential buyers like a chef who would use it entertain, and other business people who are interested in the home as a piece of art.

In the primary bathroom, double sinks are painted in a blue floral pattern. The guest bathroom includes a glass-tiled, stand-alone shower. Free breakfast is becoming a rarity at hotels nowadays, so I was glad to see the Zemi Beach House offer an expansive buffet for all of its guests. The selection will cater to virtually everyone, whether you’re looking for American classics like waffles, pancakes, bacon, breakfast sausage, and scrambled eggs, or more “local” flavors including roasted plantains and other vegetables. Every room at Zemi Beach House comes with a private balcony, whether you have a garden or ocean view. Hopefully, you can book (or get upgraded to) a room with unforgettable views of turquoise waters.

There was another robe hanging in the bathroom, and if you’re curious to know what that sign says, it basically asks guests kindly to not take the robes home with them. It’s certainly tempting, as the robes were made from a cozy, knitted material, but you can purchase one of your own at the front desk instead. I also appreciated that there was a hamper in the bathroom where you could place your used towels and robes instead of leaving them on the floor. There was another skinny desk along the back of the bed frame and 2 giant closets with plenty of hangers and drawers for easy storage.

She thanked me for my loyalty to Hilton Honors as a top-tier Diamond member, which is just one of the many perks afforded to me thanks to my Hilton Aspire card.
